        Choose a PDF page or a straight-on image. Mark the area to cover, then two known horizontal points and two known vertical points. Only the selected image area is uploaded; the original PDF stays on your device.

      2. Set the physical size

        Screen dimensions cover the whole uploaded image, including toolbars. Standard iPad outlines use Apple drawing dimensions and cover the bezel. In landscape the Home button is on the right; in portrait it is at the bottom. Models with a Home button get a 14.6 mm circular opening automatically. Every cutting opening is 1 mm inside its detected cell edge on each side, leaving the existing gap plus 2 mm of material between adjacent cells. Outer guard corners have a fixed 5 mm radius.
        For a larger case overlay, enter both outside dimensions in millimetres (26.2 × 18.4 cm = 262 × 184 mm). Leave both blank for the standard outline. Extra material is added equally on opposite sides; openings keep their size and position relative to the screen. Dimensions must be at least the standard outline. This assumes the tablet is centred in the case opening.
        These dimensions describe the calibrated image area. The border extends around that area. Photo-derived openings are estimates; touching keys may need separate openings and irregular keys need manual checking. A 1 mm inset is applied. Check physical key access and travel with a paper proof. All cut openings must leave at least 2 mm of material between them.
        
      
      3. Check and adjust the openings
        The automatic detection has detected cells and marked them in green. Areas marked with an orange border are likely to be cells, but please amend them as needed and then press the "Confirm estimated openings" button.
        You can add more openings, click the Add opening button for a rounded rectangle or Add circular opening for a circle.
        You can select an opening to move it, or use its green top, bottom, left and right handles to resize. The magenta bottom-right handle keeps its proportions when resizing.

        Align and space openings in a row
          Choose an opening in the target row as the reference. Align selected moves only the selected opening vertically. Align row puts nearby openings of similar height on the reference centre line. Space row also gives them an equal gap between cut edges, keeping the leftmost opening fixed. Check the result against the keys; Undo restores it.

        Duplicate selected copies its size and shape into free space. Move the copy over the missed key. Ctrl/Cmd+C and Ctrl/Cmd+V also copy and paste openings when you are not typing in a field.
        These measurements describe the button area before inset, from the top-left of the screen.
        Create a regular grid instead
This replaces all openings. Undo restores the previous layout. The grid covers the complete screenshot; adjust cells afterwards if it includes toolbars.

      4. Download a test and submit
        Print the PDF on the selected paper size in landscape at Actual size / 100%. Measure its 100 mm check line to ensure the print is to scale. Overlay the paper pattern on your device and check each opening.

        This guard is larger than the A4 printable area. Choose A3 for larger paper, or join the overlapping A4 sheets. Both keep the design at 100% scale.
        
        Save layout before leaving to keep your screenshot and openings; the editor does not save browser drafts automatically.
        Device, case and other notes
         I printed the test at 100%, checked the 100 mm line and checked all openings against the actual device. I understand the design needs review before manufacture.
